First Choice ER, the largest operator of freestanding emergency rooms in the state of Texas, is proud to announce the four-year anniversary of its Pearland emergency room.
To celebrate, First Choice ER will hold a public party at the Vic Coppinger Family YMCA. The event will be held Wednesday, August 31 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm and features food, games and prizes.
The first 100 children and adults will receive a complimentary Chick-fil-A dinner. Children will also get a free T-shirt, while adults will be entered to win one of four iPads or one of ten $ 100 gift cards.
For entertainment, First Choice ER is sponsoring Road Gamers, a gaming truck with Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 video games, as well as a kids face painting contest and hula-hoop contest. Chick-fil-A will also debut their new oatmeal product with an interactive Oatmeal Station and the Cow, while H-E-B provides cookies for all.
Adults can “Get Fit With First Choice” at the blood pressure station and receive a YMCA voucher to waive joining fees.
“We’re looking forward to this event,” says Rick Covert, the company’s CEO, “Pearland has been a great place for us, and we want to celebrate with the community and promote wellness.”
First Choice ER operates a network of twelve freestanding emergency rooms across Texas. Freestanding emergency rooms are a relatively new concept, distinct from both traditional hospital emergency rooms and urgent care centers.
The emergency rooms operated by First Choice ER have physicians and nurses who are trained in emergency medicine. By placing these ER centers in suburban communities around major metro areas, residents may find these facilities are closer than a hospital emergency room.
“Our goal is to reduce both the travel time and the wait time needed for people to get emergency medical care,” says Covert.
